Mahendra Jung Shah, currently serving as NRNA International Coordinating Council (ICC) member, has announced his candidacy for president in the coming 7th Convention of NRNA National Coordinating Council (NCC). Shah submitted his candidacy this Wednesday in the presence of representatives from different established organizations and institutions. Having served as the president of NRNA NCC in past years, Shah claims that his experiences prove him as a more deserving candidate and commit to benefiting the organization. In the announcement event, Kamal Gautam, vice-president of Public Relation Committee Malaysia, and Tek Tamata pledged the Nepalese residing in Malaysia to vote for Shah as the upcoming Chair of NRNA NCC Malaysia.
According to Shah, his participation in the election intends to work for another term to make every activity of NCC Malaysia labor-friendly by providing dynamic leadership to NCC Malaysia. Shah has also made his election manifesto public along with the announcement for candidacy in the same event.
Initiatives will be taken through the International Coordinating Council to restore the definition of Nepalese living outside Nepal as ‘non-residents’. Stating various reasons for the inability to complete the programs announced in the past, he has urged the voters to ensure his victory by casting enough votes to end the unfinished works as a chairperson of the organization. He also appealed to the Malaysian NCC members to support him by electing him as the upcoming 7th General Assembly chairperson.
Shah’s Commitments:
To make and strengthen every activity of NCC Malaysia more labor-friendly in favor of the working-class people.
To distribute free NRNA membership to the Nepalese living in Malaysia.
To take maximum initiatives to promote tourism in Nepal and make it more effective and result-oriented in the coming days.
To collaborate with the organizations working for Nepalese to work in a more constructive manner by taking maximum initiatives to solve the problems and interests of the Nepali working-class and Nepali diaspora in Malaysia.
To collaborate with the concerned body of the Malaysian government for organizing awareness-generating programs for Nepali workers and establishing institutional relationships.
To minimize the troubles faced by Nepalese migrating to Malaysia due to lack of information about the language, culture, and religion by conducting awareness programs.
7. To coordinate with the concerned parties to make the role of the Nepali community effective in Malaysia.
To play an influential role in encouraging foreign investments by coordinating with various Nepali organizations and finding interested investors from Malaysia to build a prosperous Nepal.
9. To take necessary initiative through the World Network of Non-Resident Nepali Associations to introduce Nepali art and culture to the world.
10. To take initiatives through the International Coordinating Council to re-establish the definition as per the recognition of the pre-defined Non-Resident Nepali Association that ‘a Nepali who stays out of the country for 182 days in a fiscal year except the SAARC countries, is ultimately considered as a non-resident Nepali’.
