The new schedule of Global NRN Singing Idol-2021 organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association Middle East Regional Youth Department has been made public. NRNA Middle East Youth Department organized a virtual press conference to announce the new schedule and the show’s grand finale, which is decided to be held on September 17, 2021.
Raj Regmi, the Middle East Regional Youth Department Chair of the NRNA, said that the Global NRN Singing Idol date has been postponed due to various technical difficulties caused by COVID-19. Also, he urged all non-resident Nepalese for active participation to make the program grand and civilized.
The opening round is divided into three stages under which the ‘Antara’ round will be held on June 25. “There will be 58 contestants selected from the digital round in this round. After performing one more song, 18 contestants will be eliminated from the ‘Antara’ round, leaving only 40 contestants to further enter the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ round, which will be held on July 2,” said Regmi.
According to Regmi, 10 contestants will be eliminated from the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ round based on their performance on a song, and the remaining 30 contestants will be promoted to the ‘Piano’ round, which is scheduled on July 9. No contestants will have to perform in the piano round, which automatically qualifies the 30 entrants for the next round, ‘Gala Round’. Regmi said, “Voting for the contestants will be opened from this round.”
“The gala round will be further divided into three phases,” said Praveen Gurung, NRNA Middle East coordinator. The first gala round will be held on August 6. “Out of the 30 contestants who have entered this round, five will be eliminated from the first gala round, while the remaining 25 contestants will advance to the second gala round,” said Gurung.
The second gala round will be held on August 13. According to Gurung, out of the remaining 25 contestants, 5 will be eliminated from this round. “The remaining 20 contestants will advance to the third gala round,” he informed.
The third gala round will be held on August 20. According to the organizers, out of the 20 contestants who entered this round, 5 will be eliminated. “The remaining 15 contestants will be qualified to enter the grand finale,” said coordinator Gurung.
The semi-final round will be held on September 3. Out of the 15 finalists, five will be eliminated from the first round, and 10 will advance to the finals.
“The Finale of the show will be held on September 17, 2021, from 11 am to 1 pm,” said NRNA Middle East Youth Coordinator Raj Regmi. Out of the 10 finalists, 5 more contestants will be eliminated from the round.
“The five finalists who make it into the grand finale will be declared as the winners as fifth, fourth, third, second, and first respectively based on public votes,” said Regmi.
The grand finale is scheduled on September 17 from 2 pm to 5 pm, said Regmi. Well-recognized singers like Uday Sontag, Prashna Shakya, Vijay Lama, and Sunita Dulal are the show’s judges organized under the slogan ‘Nepali Art and Culture Preservation and Identity, NRNA Second Generation Campaign’.
The winner of the competition will be awarded Rs 7 lakhs while the second prize is Rs 4 lakhs, the third position holder will receive Rs 2 lakhs, and the fourth will receive Rs 1 lakh the fifth Rs 50 thousand.
Speaking at a function organized to unveil the new schedule of Global NRN Singing Idol, RK Sharma, Secretary of the Non-Resident Nepali Association,ICC expressed that NRN has prioritized such programs to introduce Nepali art culture and music to the world. Secretary Sharma said that the Nepalese scattered throughout different countries by preserving their musical soul is suitable for showcasing their talent by NRNA Idol.
Similarly, DB Chhetri, spokesperson of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, TB Karki, and Som Sapkota, advisors of the association, collectively said that this show would help advance the artistic and musical life of non-resident Nepalese.
